Educational Objective:
This is a course for the student who has little or no flight time and wishes to obtain a Private Pilot Certificate.. A Private Pilot Certificate is similar to a driver’s license; it allows you to fly passengers and to share operating expenses with passengers, but prohibits the pilot from conducting flights for compensation or hire.
Admission requirements:
Students entering in a Private course must be at least 18 years of age, provide proof of High School graduation or GED, read, speak, write and understand English. Before solo flight, the student must hold a valid third-class medical certificate from a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved physician.
Course Description
Ground School:
Student studies rules, regulations, navigation, weather, aircraft performance and other items necessary to perform as a Private Pilot.
Presolo:
Student pilot learns to fly the airplane. After adequate instruction, Student is allowed to fly aircraft without instructor to practice manuevers under close Instructor supervision.
Cross-country:
Student will learn to plan flights to airports outside of the local area. Using charts, weather briefings, and other information, Student will fly to airports more than 50 miles from Bethel.
Practical Test Preparation
Student gets ready for FAA Practical test before becoming a Private Pilot. After Student has achieved performance that meets FAA Standards, Student will fly with a FAA Designated Examiner. Upon successful completion of this Oral and Practical exam, in which the student is asked to perform and demonstrate manuevers and knowledge of FAA rules and regulations, the Student becomes a Private Pilot.
